Small Group Desert Tours & Packing List

Difference between private desert tours and small group desert tours:

A private Morocco Desert Tour is a tour that is exclusively for you and your family or travel companions. This means that you have the flexibility to customize the itinerary according to your preferences and interests, and the tour schedule can be adjusted to fit your needs. You will have your own personal guide or driver who will be solely focused on your group, ensuring a personalized experience.

On the other hand, small group morocco desert tours are typically limited to a small number of travelers, usually between 4 to 8 people. This type of tour is ideal for travelers who want to share their experience with like-minded individuals while still maintaining a degree of personal attention. Small group tours generally have a fixed itinerary and schedule, but still offer some flexibility to accommodate individual preferences.

While private tours offer the ultimate in flexibility and personalized attention, they can be more expensive than small group tours. Small group tours, on the other hand, offer a balance between affordability and personal attention, while still providing an enjoyable and immersive experience of the desert. Ultimately, the choice between a private tour and a small group tour depends on your budget, travel preferences, and trip goals.

A private tour means it will be only you and the driver in car, the departure is guaranteed and the time frames are flexible and can be adjusted to your needs and interests, Cancellation is also flexible and usually free because no else will be affected by it.

- A change or an extension of itinerary in the middle of the tour is possible.

- The flexibility allows you to start and end the tour almost (within reasonable limits ) anytime during the day or straight from and to the airport.

A Shared tour is a small group tour of 8 people max, all being our clients, this tour offers the same quality service in most aspects but with affordable prices, however, there is a need of flexibility during pick up and drop off times because it won't be only you, so in some cases, you will not be picked up directly from the riad, but from a close point with easy access in order to save time.

-Last minute cancellations in a shared tour are charged 100% of the total price because this affects your fellow travelers in the group and the company at the same time since all participants are offered a price based on the final number of persons in the group.

-Finally, Shared tours are not guaranteed in advance, because they depend on other people inquiring and joining the same tour at the same date, which is why we offer alternatives for people wishing to go on a group tour but no one joins, either a free cancellation or a discount to be able to afford a private tour.

What to Wear in Morocco:

When considering what to wear in Morocco, it's important to keep in mind the diverse range of activities and climates you may encounter. No matter the time of year, it's recommended to bring layers that will accommodate both hot and cold temperatures. While visiting Morocco, it's common to experience different weather conditions, ranging from sweltering heat in the bustling markets of Marrakech to chilly nights in the Atlas Mountains or the Sahara Desert.

By packing lightweight, breathable, and loose clothing that is also comfortable in the heat, you can ensure that you are prepared for any situation. It's important to avoid tight clothing that can draw unwanted attention. Whether you're planning a short visit or a longer stay, layers will serve you well and make your time in Morocco more enjoyable.

Packing List by Season:

Are you planning a trip to Morocco but unsure of what to pack? Your packing list will depend on the time of year you plan to visit and the regions you will explore.

Fall – September to November Temperatures start to cool down, especially in the evenings. Sahara Desert will still be warm during the day but gets colder at night. Coastal cities will remain warm.

Light layers for the fluctuating temperatures. Long pants and closed-toe shoes for cooler evenings. A light jacket or sweater for the cooler nights. Comfortable walking shoes for exploring cities and sites.

Winter – December to February The northern coast and cities like Marrakech can get quite cold. The Atlas Mountains can have snowfall. The south, including the Sahara Desert, can get chilly at night.

Warm clothing, such as sweaters, jackets, and a coat for colder evenings. Layers for the fluctuating temperatures. A scarf and hat for warmth in colder regions. Sturdy, waterproof boots for exploring in wet and potentially snowy conditions.

Spring – March to May Temperatures start to warm up, and flowers bloom. The Sahara Desert will start to get warmer during the day, but still cool at night. Coastal cities will be mild and pleasant.

Light layers for the fluctuating temperatures. Long pants and closed-toe shoes for cooler evenings. Comfortable walking shoes for exploring cities and sites. A light jacket or sweater for the cooler nights.

Regardless of the season, it is recommended to pack a hat, sunscreen, and insect repellent. When visiting religious sites, ensure that clothing covers the knees and shoulders. It is also advisable to check weather conditions and local customs before traveling to Morocco to ensure that you pack appropriately for your trip.

What to pack for babies and toddlers:

If you're traveling to Morocco with babies or toddlers, there are a few essential items to consider packing.

Firstly, don't worry about packing too many nappies, as they are readily available in all towns throughout Morocco. Similarly, milk is easy to find and purchase.

When it comes to transporting your little ones around, a back carrier is a better option than a buggy or pushchair. This allows your child to sit high up and see what's going on around them. Additionally, navigating a buggy over cobblestones and through the busy, narrow alleyways of medinas can be difficult.

While traveling, cots are often available at your accommodation. However, it's always a good idea to check in advance to ensure that they will be provided. By packing these essentials, you can ensure a comfortable and stress-free trip for both you and your little ones.

Toileterie:

Toiletries are an important consideration when packing for your trip to Morocco. To save space and keep things organized, we recommend using one wash bag for the whole family. This can include essential items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, shower gel, and more. To save even more space, consider using shower blocks or bars instead of bottles.

Ladies, if you're traveling to Morocco and prefer to use tampons or sanitary pads during your period, it's important to note that they may not be as readily available in Morocco as they are in your home country. To save space and reduce waste, we recommend considering the use of a menstrual cup. Not only is it more environmentally friendly, but it also takes up less space in your luggage and eliminates the need to worry about carrying and disposing of used tampons and pads while on the go.

Medical Kit:

Although there are pharmacies in Morocco, it can be easier to bring your own medical supplies from home. This way, you can quickly provide your child with the necessary medication in case they feel unwell during the night. It's unlikely that pharmacies in Morocco will have the exact brand or type of medicine you need, so it's better to come prepared.

The sun can be quite strong in Morocco, so remember to pack high-factor sun cream to protect your skin. Although mosquitoes are not a significant problem in the arid regions of Morocco, it's always useful to have insect repellent and Tiger Balm for itchy bites.

When it comes to packing a medical kit, make sure to include:

  • Sunscreen (which will be used most days)
  • Insect repellent
  • Plasters
  • Antiseptic cream and wipes
  • Bandages
  • Medical tape and scissors
  • Tiger Balm
  • Ibuprofen
  • Imodium
  • Dioralyte

By packing these essentials, you can enjoy a safe and healthy trip to Morocco without worrying about medical emergencies or minor ailments.

Electrical items

It's likely that most families will bring electrical devices such as phones, laptops, and tablets when traveling to Morocco. It's essential to ensure that you have all the correct chargers and plugs with you to avoid any inconvenience.

In Morocco, the most common plug type is the two-round-pin plug (Type C), also known as a Europlug, which is commonly used throughout Europe. If you are traveling from the UK with electrical devices that use UK plugs, you will need to bring a travel adaptor with you. We recommend a travel adaptor that can accommodate a UK plug and has three USB slots. This will ensure that you can charge all your devices without needing multiple adapters.
