Berber Life Experience in the High Atlas
Escape the heat of Marrakech and drive into the Imlil Village in the High Atlas Mountains. Imlil is a small thriving village, located in the heart of the Mezane Valley and overlooked by Mount Toubkal, North Africa's highest peak. Imlil is regarded as the center for much of the High Atlas trekking activities; it is the starting point for the ascent up to Mount Toubkal and also for many other mountain hikes. The village is surrounded by attractive orchards, and is within easy reach to some of Morocco's most scenic valleys and gorges.
This Imlil & High Atlas day trip will give you the option to ride a mule, or go on a hike and pass Berber villages, enjoying the stunning views of the countryside and High Atlas. Have a delicious traditional lunch in a Berber house, then take a short walk with your driver before driving back to Marrakech.
Pick up & Departure
Ready to gain some elevation? Head into the magnificent High Atlas Mountains, through the Moulay Brahim Gorges, and the Berber village of Asni, very popular for its weekly market that is held every saturday.
Asni Village
Stop in Asni and take a tour through the local weekly market of Asni (Saturday), find your way through the crowd of the local Berbers pouring from all the surrounding villages to exchange goods, animals and buy fresh vegetables, fruits and meat for their homes.
Arrive in Imlil
Upon arrival at the small village of Imlil, Lace-up your hiking boots and embark on a 1 hour hike from Imlil to the quaint mountain village of Aroumd (Aremd).
Hike & Lunch
Hike into Aremd Village, where you'll have lunch on an open terrace with an extremely wide view over the whole valley. After lunch, a tea break is a must to help you digest.
Return to Marrakech
Take a small walk through a different path to Imlil and meet your driver, drive back to Marrakech with an expected arrival time of 5pm. On the way back, you can choose to go back the same way or opt for a loop to join the Asni- Imlil route and be picked up by our driver.
